The annual PAC spring trip will be March 26 - 28. We will be traveling to the Washington, DC area and visiting the Goddard Space Flight Center and the Applied Physics Lab on the John Hopkins University campus. We will also be treated to a dinner with alumni on Friday night at a locale to be decided. An general itinery is below.

6:00 PM – Meet at Diner Parking Lot
6:30 AM – Depart for Washington, DC
Friday, March 27, 2009
1:00 AM - Arrive at hotel and sleep
8:00 AM - Wake up and get breakfast
9:00 AM - Arrive to Lobby 1 of Applied Physics Lab (APL)
9-9:30 AM - Fill out forms, present identification, prepare for tour
9:30-11:00 AM - Tour of APL including Space Department (facility where satellites are built), vibration laboratory, thermal laboratory, mission control, and robotics lab
12:00 PM - Arrive at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC)
12-12:45 PM - "Science on a Sphere" Presentation
12:45-2:30PM - Guided tour of some/all of the following as time and availability permits: NASCOM and/or SOHO Communications Facility, Engineering Integration and Test Facilities, Hubble Space Telescope Simulator, Thermal Blanket Laboratory
2:30-3:00 PM - Self-guided tour of Visitor Center exhibits, Rocket Garden, Gift Shop
This leaves the late afternoon/evening free to travel to our dinner location or whatever else comes up.
7:00 PM – Dinner with alumni at
After dinner travel to hotel (TBD)
Saturday March 28, 2009
9:00 AM – Depart hotel for downtown
Visit DC for a time – will look up what is open, where to park, etc
Depart for Cleveland at driver’s discretion
If you are interested in going on the trip, we are looking for a maximum of 20 students. It is open to anyone, so you can bring your friends. It is first come, first serve. The registration form is below. The first 20 to get it back to me get to go on the trip.
