Today's Focus

• Want to understand how the 1H proton behaves in a magnetic field. Treat the 1H proton classically as a particle with a magnetic moment and some intrinsic angular momentum. Will remedy this with quantum mechanical picture of a proton later.

• Need to remember some vector mathematics, basic electromagnetism and mechanics.

• Understanding this behavior will be first step in understanding the mechanisms that provide MRI signal.
