- Have seen that multiplication in one domain leads to convolution
in the other domain, and the convolution usually leads to smearing
(blurring) of objects.
- SPECIFIC QUESTION: If you have 3 side-by-side voxels and the outer two voxel contain
point sources in the center of the voxel, can you tell that there are two
point sources, or are they too blurred out? How much do two point sources need
to be separated by to be reasonably resolved?
- Need to understand what impact smearing has on real ability to
resolve two objects? When there are two small objects, how far apart do
they need to be to be differentiated?
- BIG GENERAL QUESTION: What is the resolving power of the MRI
experiment?
- Ask the question: Are there are any situations where controlled
blurring is a good thing? If so, how much blurring is good and how do
we control the blurring. Real question will end up involving
perception.
