Practice Problem #23: Four more Problems before Third Hour Exam (2008)
Remarks:
These are five more practice problems I wrote up before the third hour
exam in 2008. They are nice problems. Unfortunately, I seem to have
over-written the Latex source so I have no way to edit these problems
so they are all "bunched together" with the old dates and so
forth.
Problem "P12" is the one I went through in class today (slightly
modified). This is one of my most favorite problems I have ever
written. It really gets at the flux concept. If you get the
whole thing exactly correct with no problems, then this
corresponds to "mastery".
Problem P13 is a good Faraday's Law rotating hoop problem,
rather similar to the one you did for the homework I believe.
Okay perhaps Very Similar. It's important that you can do
this kind of problem. The only annoying part of this is the
derivative with three terms....
Problem P14 We did this in class with the opposite B-field
orientation today. Basic competance for Part (a), mastery
for confidently solving part (b).
Problem P15 Student ask me what they have to know from
the "reverse lecture" on Maxwell's equations. The short answer
is that I am allowed to ask you an "essay question" to see
if you understood the basic ideas behind that lecture.
Problem 16: This covers the topic of RLC resonance
which we did not cover this year. So do not worry about
parts (c) and (d).
